Last Thursday saw our first Welsh language film screening: the wonderful Dan y Wenallt. The film is the latest big screen adaptation of Dylan Thomas’ classic ‘play for voices’ Under Milk Wood.

This unconventional interpretation mixes beautiful and evocative imagery with a stirring soundtrack, complimenting Thomas’ dazzling wordplay.

Undoubted highlight of the evening was an introduction and Q&A by two members of the film’s cast, Sharon Morgan (who plays Mary Ann Sailors) and Carwyn Glyn (Mr Pritchard). We couldn’t have asked for more gracious, funny and insightful guests.

Added to that, Kay Brain and Katherine Kemp laid on a marvellous festive spread on behalf of the Llancarfan and District Community Association, including themed craft ales (Milk Wood Ale and Organ Morgan no less!).

Our thanks to everyone who joined us, and if you were unable to attend but fancy catching the film then S4C is televising the Welsh language version on 27 December at 9pm, or you can wait until April 2015 for the English language version.
