Friday 13th September, 7.15pm: Fighting with my Family (12)
In Llancarfan village hall we open the season with some British comedy! A former wrestler and his family make a living performing at small venues around the country while his kids dream of joining World Wrestling Entertainment. With a guest appearance from The Rock.
Saturday 5th October: 7pm St Cadoc’s Church Llancarfan, A Month in the Country (1987, PG) part of the Vale Film Festival
St Cadoc’s Church [http://stcadocsllancarfan.co.uk] is proud to present a very special screening of a modern classic of British cinema adapted from J L Carr’s acclaimed novel, A Month in the Country (1987). Starring Colin Firth and Kenneth Branagh in their first film, this is a captivating adaption of J. L. Carr’s novel set in Yorkshire in 1920 about former soldiers scarred by their experiences.
For this special event, which is part of the inaugural Vale Film Festival [https://www.valefilmfest.co.uk] supported by Creative Rural Communities, St Cadoc’s church will be transformed into a Pop-up Picture Palace, along with live music performed by Hiraeth String Quartet, inspired by Howard Blake’s award-winning score, and an introductory talk about our own church’s wall paintings by local expert Ian Fell.
All profit from the screening will go to help save the wall paintings from an urgent damp problem recently identified at St Cadoc’s. Spaces are very limited so book now for this rare chance to see a youthful Colin Firth perfecting his stammer years before he collected the best acting Oscar for The King’s Speech. The film is a real feast of period detail, rousing music and moving performances by three of our best actors before they hit the big time.

Thursday 24th October, 7.15pm: Shiny Shrimps (15)
A mid week film under our Cariad stream- a French comedy. Matthias Le Goff, an Olympic champion at the end of his career, makes a homophobic statement on TV. His punishment: coach the Shiny Shrimps, a flamboyant and amateur gay water-polo team. They have only one thing in mind: to qualify for the Gay Games in Croatia where the hottest international LGBT athletes compete. It’s the start of a bumpy and joyful ride – Faster, Higher, Stronger.
Friday 8th November, 7.15pm: Yesterday (PG-13)
A struggling musician realizes he’s the only person on Earth who can remember The Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed.
Saturday 16th November, 7.15pm- The Italian Job & Wine Tasting in Association with Bay Tree Wine
Showing the classic film in its anniversary year we celebrate by pairing it with wine! In association with Bay Tree Wine Company, we offer you the chance to enjoy the film with a series of thematically linked wine. As in previous wine events, seats will be arranged around tables to allow people to bring food.

Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. The adventurous journey turns into an unexpected reunion as Woody’s slight detour leads him to his long-lost friend Bo Peep. As Woody and Bo discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they’re worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy.
