We’re thrilled to announce the start of our third season with details of the programme for September to December:
Friday 19 September
THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (PG, 2013)

“Mitty is a film that bravely rejects cynicism. In many ways, it’s the new Forrest Gump. Go with it and it is, in all senses, wonderful.”
Empire Magazine
“Audiences willing to tune in to its blend of surreal fantasy, droll comedy and poignancy will be rewarded.”
Hollywood Reporter
We open with a very funny and good-natured adaptation of James Thurber’s famous short story about a hapless man lost in a daydream world of heroic derring-do.
Ben Stiller directs and stars in this modern take on the story, alongside Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) and with a scene stealing cameo by Sean Penn.
Mitty’s vivid imaginings are rendered in superb detail using the latest special effects technology, but at the heart of the film lies a touching tale of a man forced to come to terms with reality and take life by the scruff of the neck.
Part comedy, part adventure story, the film offers the perfect way to usher in the new season, promising spirited entertainment and a genuine feel good factor.
To mark the occasion we’ll also host a drinks reception beforehand. Daydreamers of all ages welcome!
Friday 17 October and Saturday 18 October
* * * SCI-FI WEEKENDER * * *

Following the success of January’s Gothic Double Bill, we are chuffed to infinity to take part in the British Film Institute’s second ‘blockbuster’ season, around the theme of science fiction (Sci-Fi).
We promise to boldly go where no village film club has gone before, with no fewer than THREE performances over two days.
Titles have yet to be confirmed but we’re hoping to open on Friday 17 October with Tom Cruise’s latest smash hit EDGE OF TOMORROW (12A, 2014).
Saturday will see a special family matinee performance of FLASH GORDON (PG, 1980), followed in the evening by a high definition presentation of a classic title as yet to be confirmed.
For a truly memorable experience we’re planning some special events and competitions over the weekend.
It will be out of this world!
(Yep, you can expect many more such puns in the coming weeks).
Friday 14 November
THE FAULT IN OUR STARS (12A, 2014)

“Yes, there’s no denying that this is a film about the big C – but ultimately it boils down to a bittersweet boy-meets-girl love story, with some surprisingly sweet and funny moments.”
Daily Mail
“…a spirited, touching romance”
Empire Magazine
November brings a change of tone, with the touching and insightful tale of two unconventional teenagers drawn together at a cancer support group. Based on the worldwide bestselling novel by John Green, the film is a classic love story mixed with acerbic wit and human warmth.
Saturday 13 December
FROZEN SING-ALONG (U, 2013)

In what is now an annual tradition, we’re kicking off the festive season with another family matinee performance in support of a local charity.
This year we’re bringing Disney’s phenomenally successful Frozen to the village hall, with a sing-along version that should get everyone on their feet and joining in. All together now, “Let it go! Let it go!…”
