We’re a community cinema. Note the order of those words: community comes first. And that’s what it’s all about. The films we screen are obviously an important part of what we do each month, but only as a means to bring people together for some good old fashioned socialising.
We’re not the only provider offering such an opportunity: there’s a great deal going on locally, and we’re happy to advertise events (big or small) as part of our pre-film show and on the web site.
This month we advertised the Llancarfan Society May Day Walk, which takes place on Sunday 5 May between 12.00pm and 1.30pm. Meet by the Fox & Hounds before walking around the village while learning about its rich history. Families and dogs welcome.
Also worth noting, this Saturday (27 April) between 10am and 12pm there’s the annual Seedy Saturday gathering in the village hall for those with horticultural interests.
And the Fox & Hounds (01446 781287) has a number of events to look forward to, including:
Tuesday 30th April and the last Tuesday of every month – Quiz night. Teams of 4 maximum, just £7.50 per person for quiz and supper. Teams must book their places in advance. 7.30pm start.
Saturday 18th May -If you don’t fancy our screening of Life of Pi how about a Bordeaux wine tasting evening with dinner? £60 per person, wines along with tasting notes and a 3 course dinner. Starts 7.30pm.
Thursday 20th June – Celebrate Royal Ascot’s Ladies Day nearer to home. Ladies are invited to wear their best dresses and hats (gentlemen are welcome too!). Starts at 12 noon with a glass of prosecco followed by a buffet lunch to include dressed salmon and fresh strawberries. £25 per person (£5 donation to the village show fund). Prize for the best dressed lady and gentleman plus the best hat. Afternoon tea will also be available at £6 per person, advanced bookings needed. Television coverage of the racing will also be available.
