Our next screening, Ridley Scott’s THE MARTIAN, surprised everyone by securing no fewer than seven Oscar nominations, including Best Actor for Matt Damon and Best Motion Picture.
Based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir, and directed by Ridley Scott, The Martian tells the story of Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm during a mission to Mars, and left behind by his crew. Watney survives and finds himself stranded on the hostile planet.
NASA works tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crew plan a daring rescue mission. The star-studded cast also includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
